Les Chanlins lies at the northern edge of the commune where it meets Volnay, high on the slope; the premier cru section is Les Chanlins-Bas below, while the upper parcels are classified at village level. Altitude and thinner soils here temper Pommard's usual weight, giving a red that keeps the appellation's structure with rather more lift.
