The vineyards sit high and face east and south-east on shallow, very stony limestone, which is why Saint-Aubin whites carry so much of the cut and chalkiness of their far more famous neighbours at a fraction of the price. The wines are typically brisk and citrus-driven with a firm, mineral finish, and they drink well earlier than the grander communes below.
