He liked its spicy energy enough that what began as a one-off is now a fixture, fruit supply permitting. Contributions come from several Sonoma Coast AVA sites: the organically farmed, sandy Nellessen Vineyard, planted in 2000 west of Sebastopol in the Russian River Valley; Armagh, planted 1997 and farmed organically in the cool centre of the Petaluma Gap; and Griffin's Lair, also in the Gap, planted 1990 and organic. Winemaking mirrors the North Coast bottling, and the finished alcohol sits at 12.5 per cent.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNervy and light on its feet for Syrah, with red and black fruit, pepper and a sea-spray salinity, and real freshness through the finish. Serve at 15 degrees.
