Fifteen separate ferments were run, some fully destemmed, some entirely whole cluster, most somewhere between, which is a great deal of bookkeeping for the estate's most affordable red. Small and medium oak held the wine through its first year, larger vessels through its second, and a quarter sat in concrete throughout to keep the fruit unvarnished. A cool season has given a wine closer in weight to Pinot Noir than to the fuller Heathcote style.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSlinky and floral, sappy through the middle, closing on macerated red berries and powdery tannin. A light chill suits it, 14 to 16 degrees.
