Barbera is the everyday grape of Piedmont, planted far more widely than Nebbiolo and long treated as the workhorse of the region, though growers in the Alba hills have spent the past few decades proving what it can do from good sites. Conca Tre Pile takes its name from a bowl shaped parcel within the estate's Monforte holdings.
