Prunotto grew out of an Alba growers' co-operative founded in 1904 and took Alfredo Prunotto's name in 1923; under Beppe Colla from the 1950s it became one of the first Piedmontese houses to bottle individual vineyards under their own names, an approach now standard across the Langhe. The Antinori family has owned the house since the 1990s.
