Three sites contribute: the BioGro-certified Porters vineyard on Mackenzies Road, the estate's own Waikari property, and a little Sauvignon from Churton in Marlborough. Fruit mostly went in as whole bunches for twelve to twenty-four days in open-top vessels, and a dash of blanc de noir pressings joined them mid-ferment, then six months in clay amphorae and old barrels with no sulphur added. Huw Kinch's stated aim is tannin fine and light enough to match a cool climate, and he has it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChristmas spice and orange rind lead, and the tannins coat the mouth softly before a savoury, moreish close. Serve at 13 to 14 degrees.
