Alongside a menagerie of ducks, geese and pigs it produces a range of organic produce including olives, oranges, figs, clementines and walnuts. The estate farms 25 hectares of olive groves, most of the trees more than 200 years old, planted to Portuguese varieties including Cordovil, Madural, Verdeal and Galega. The trees are farmed traditionally, without irrigation, and pruned by hand, as they have been for generations in the schist terraces of the Douro.
