It is home to the estate's oldest vines, up to 80 years of age and mostly on their own rootstock, which is why Wilhelm Weil decided that his Grosses Gewächs should come from this site alone, even though he could release three from his single vineyards. Weil's stated aim has been to recreate the style and quality of the full-bodied dry wines the Rheingau made a century ago, when the region's finest Rieslings were the most expensive wines in the world. This is clearly a step above the Turmberg and Klosterberg, not necessarily more intense but finer and more complete, and it stands among the very best dry Rieslings of the Rheingau.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wine to cellar, and in magnum it will run for two decades and more.
