This cuvée blends fruit from high-sited parcels around the village, including the Sandgrub and a good proportion from Wasseros, a steep southwest-facing vineyard that adjoins the Gräfenberg vines. The soils across these sites are typically stony, fragmented phyllite laced with loess and loam, which gives the wine a firm mineral frame rather than obvious weight. Vinification is largely in stainless steel, with around five per cent fermented in large oak to add a little breadth. The style is dry in the trocken sense, with the estate's characteristic clarity and a long, taut finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and worth keeping five to eight years. Good with trout, roast pork or a soft white cheese.
