Moppa, High Eden, Light Pass and the Eastern Foothills all contribute, and the soils change as you move between them, from thin skeletal sandy loams in the higher sites to the classic sand over red clay lower down. Vine age runs from 25 to 110 years, with about 45 as the working average. Pete Schell's reference point is the medium-bodied Barossa reds of the 1970s and 80s, bottles he first encountered in other people's cellars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAromatic and detailed, never heavy, with blackberry, red plum, pepper and a savoury, earthy undertow on fine tannin. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees.
