La Solana faces east between 350 and 450 metres above the sea, on a layer of clay over volcanic rock, and the vines range from 80 to 150 years old. Jonatán García's family estate treats each parcel separately: the fruit is vatted into small open concrete tanks for a cold soak, then ferments naturally in seasoned French oak puncheons, and the wine is bottled without filtration. Of the estate's single-vineyard reds this is the most textural and fruit-forward, though it belongs to the purer, more mineral style now coming out of the cellar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now with a short decant and good for eight to ten years.
