Suertes del Marqués, run by Jonatán García, has made old-vine Listán Blanco one of the most distinctive white wines in Spain. The first plot, El Barranco, was planted to Listán Blanco more than a century ago, the exact age unknown, and is still trained in the traditional trenzado system; the other two, La Solana and El Ciruelo, are small parcels of ungrafted vines nearby. Every vine behind this cuvée is over a hundred years old, on volcanic and basaltic soils. Winemaking is deliberately minimal: whole-bunch pressing, natural fermentation in foudre, eleven months of ageing and no filtration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRewarding now and capable of eight to ten years.
