The site is a steep, east-facing slope above the village of Chenôve, on the same line as the Gevrey Premiers Crus further south, with lightish red soil and some sand over Comblanchien limestone. Pataille's vines were planted in 1952, 1965, 1978 and 2001. The wine fermented with 80% whole bunches, spent eighteen months in barrel and a further six months in tank, and was bottled unfiltered.

Best given four or five years and good well beyond that; serve at 16–18°C with roast beef, game or aged hard cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur.
