This Gamay is now sourced from an organic grower in Chiroubles, the highest of the Beaujolais crus, where granite soils and altitude give a fine-boned style of the variety; earlier releases came from a friend's vineyard at Lancié, near Fleurie. The winemaking has not changed: the grapes are entirely destemmed, so there is none of the carbonic lift that defines much of Beaujolais, and the wine matures in a combination of amphora and old cask. The change of source has given the wine a more Burgundian cast, with silky, plummy fruit and a fine, powdery structure.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and good for four or five years.
