It now feeds several of his blends, but the two single-vineyard wines, this one and the Cellar Reserve released at six years old, are where it shows best. The vineyard sits on the free-draining sandy flats of Pokolbin, one of about twelve holdings on a narrow strip of Semillon ground that includes Tyrrell's, on soil that was once sea floor. Only the finest bunches of the harvest were taken, whole-bunch pressed to minimise phenolics. After the riper 2024, this is a return to the classical shape.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTightly wound and intense, with lemon zest, green melon and a chalky, saline close; already drinking well, and built to reward a decade or two in the dark.
