It contributes to several of his blends today, but the two single-vineyard wines matter most: the Braemore Semillon on release, and this one, held six years before it goes out. The site sits on the free-draining sandy flats of Pokolbin, one of about twelve holdings on a narrow strip of Semillon ground shared with Tyrrell's among others. Once a sea floor, the deep sandy loam drains hard and lets roots go down, which is where the intensity and the famous longevity come from.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSix years brings the toast and hay forward without losing the citrus: lemon marmalade, straw, wet stone and a smoky finish, all held by fine acid.
