The block lies on the western fringe of the Lower Hunter, in a slightly drier pocket, on deep red volcanic soil with ironstone running through it. Andrew Thomas favours lighter soils for Semillon, so this is the outlier in his range, and he lets the fruit hang longer here. A few weeks on lees after fermentation is the only concession to texture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBright and clean, lime and grapefruit with a stony core and more weight in the middle than the alcohol suggests. Serve cold, 9 degrees.
