The family's vineyards climb steep slopes, with Lagrein planted on the warmer, lower sites where gravelly, sandy and calcareous soils help this variety ripen fully. The grapes are fermented on skins in stainless steel for up to two weeks, and the wine is then aged for several months in a mix of French oak barriques and larger casks before a further rest in bottle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLagrein has plenty of colour and flavour but soft tannins, so it is easy to enjoy young. Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with roast venison, beef goulash, speck, grilled sausages or mushroom dishes.
