The soil is a poor, sandy granite that warms quickly and offers the vine very little reserve, which tends to produce Rieslings that are high toned, linear and unusually persistent rather than broad. Trimbach's approach is unchanged from its village wines: whole-bunch pressing, cool fermentation in stainless steel, no malolactic fermentation and no wood, then extended lees ageing and bottle rest before release.
