Their success, with that of neighbouring Bolgheri, helped make Suvereto and the Val di Cornia one of Italy's most sought after corners. Syrah has found an unexpectedly good home on this stretch of coast, where the maritime climate and stony soils suit it, and Tua Rita have grown it alongside their Bordeaux varieties. Keir is bottled under the broad Toscana IGT, the classification that gave the coastal estates the freedom to work outside the Sangiovese based rules of inland Tuscany.
