Altitude and the cool border climate keep acidity high and ripening slow, and Schiefer's wines here have become a reference for the lighter, more transparent Austrian style that emerged from the late 1990s. The blend draws on estate parcels across the slopes of the Eisenberg hill. Fruit was hand-harvested and fermented with ambient yeasts, then matured for two years on lees in large, mature oak vessels. It was bottled without fining or filtration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and worth keeping five to ten years; decant young.
