Montenovo is drawn from vineyards spread across the slate-strewn villages of Rubiá, A Rúa, Larouco, Petín and O Bolo. The plantings average about fifteen years of age and are all mass selections taken from the oldest Godello in Spain, the 130-year-old vines of the family's Pedrouzos vineyard. The fruit is fermented with wild yeasts and raised in stainless steel, with no oak, so the emphasis falls on the fleshy citrus fruit and the chalky, smoky minerality that the slate gives. For an entry-level wine it carries a good deal of the estate's house character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink it young, within two or three years, with grilled sardines, salads or a plate of empanada.
