This wine comes from a number of vineyards in the Luberon, the high country between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Vaucluse plain, where altitude and cool nights keep acidity in place on a variety that can turn broad in warm climates. It is bottled as Vin de France. For the most part the wine was fermented and aged in old oak barrels on fine lees for eight months, which builds a creamy texture without adding obvious oak flavour. The style sits between two worlds: there is rolling southern fruit and a herbal, provençal cast, but also the purity, drive and rocky freshness that Guffens is known for in Burgundy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink within three years, with roast chicken, grilled prawns or a gratin of vegetables.
