This wine is drawn mainly from the village of Péronne, between Viré and Azé in the northern Mâconnais, with a complement from Mâcon-Pierreclos. Unlike most Bourgogne blanc at this level, which is made in tank, the whole of it is fermented and raised in barrel, with 15% new wood, and spends eight months on its lees. The approach adds flesh and a phenolic grip that regional Chardonnay rarely shows, without losing the freshness the Mâconnais delivers.
