Verget is the négociant house founded by the Belgian grower Jean-Marie Guffens, who buys fruit and juice rather than farming the vineyards himself and applies serious white-Burgundy winemaking to appellations that do not always receive it. Frost cut the crop here severely, so the wine was made from very low yields. The fruit was harvested on 23 and 24 September, and the free-run juice fermented entirely in used barrels through to the end of January, so there is no new oak in the wine at all.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking now and holding four or five years.
