Verget is Jean-Marie Guffens's négociant house, buying fruit and working it in much the same way as at his own domaine, and Mâcon-Pierreclos has long been one of its stronger sources. Only the old vines were selected this year, and the wine was raised with 20 per cent new wood, a light touch at this level. The style is juicy and comparatively forward, with quince and vine peach over a core of crunchy fruit and flecks of baking spice, closing long, tangy and fine. Guffens prefers this vintage to the 2021, noting a pleasant degree of reduction and an almost tannic structure that should serve it well at the table.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink over the next four or five years.
