The name Obliqua hints at the steep, slanting slopes where these vines grow, higher up than most Chilean Carménère. Altitude and stony soils give a wine with nervous energy and tension, quite unlike the softer, riper style the grape often shows. Carménère is blended with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and the palate is firm with chalky tannins, very good acidity and notes of raspberry, spice and cedar, leading to a persistent finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDecant before serving if drinking now, at around 17 degrees. Pair it with grilled lamb cutlets, beef with chimichurri or a mushroom stroganoff.
