The domaine has been in the Faller family since 1898 and is farmed biodynamically, now under Catherine Faller and her sons Eddy and Théo. Alsace Pinot Gris has a reputation for residual sugar, and this wine is a deliberate departure from it: the fruit is pressed as whole bunches, fermented right through to dryness and raised for ten months in the large old oak ovals traditional to the region. Calling it an entry-level Gris undersells it, since the vines within the Clos are old and the fruit is a selection rather than a leftover. It is the domaine's first Pinot Gris in the range and it sets the tone for the rest.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReady now and capable of six to eight years.
