The soils are sandy silt over granite pebbles, warm ground on which Gewürztraminer ripens early, producing wines with complex aromatics and real concentration. The Faller family’s style with this variety is marked by restraint and savouriness rather than the confected sweetness common elsewhere, and the wine is bottled with 12.5 g\/L residual sugar, enough to round the palate without reading as a dessert wine. It is a good introduction to what the domaine does with the grape at a more approachable level than its grand cru bottlings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and holding for eight years.
