Dorli Muhr, who was born in the village below, did much to bring the hill back into serious cultivation. The Obere Spitzer sub-vineyard covers almost seven hectares on the extreme western slope at 210 metres. Her single hectare of Blaufrankisch there dates from 1955 and sits on the steepest part of the slope, where the soils are sandy and dry. The fruit is lightly crushed, then macerated and wild-fermented in small open-top vats with a small proportion of stems and only gentle foot-treading.
