Alamos grapes are grown at the foothills of the Andes Mountains at elevations of 3,000 to 5,000 feet, where intense sunlight, cool evening temperatures and mineral-rich irrigation from mountain snowmelt translate to rich wines with intense flavor characteristics.

Recipe

Beef Empanadas

Ingredients:

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. In a pan, sauté onion and garlic until softened.
  2. Add minced beef, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned. Stir in olives and set aside to cool.
  3. Cut puff pastry into circles. Place a spoonful of filling in the centre of each circle and fold over, sealing the edges.
  4. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with chimichurri sauce or tomato salsa.
