Description
Hunter McKirdy Le Chemin des Épines Noires Pinot Blanc/Auxerrois is a small-batch, artisanal white from the village of Zellenberg in Alsace, blending Pinot Blanc with Auxerrois.
Hunter McKirdy is a young négociant venture founded by Paul McKirdy and Jolene Hunter, both formerly of the celebrated Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, who work a handful of parcels of Jurassic limestone marl between Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé. Choosing to bottle outside the formal Alsace AOC framework as Vin de France, they favour gentle, whole-bunch pressing and spontaneous fermentation with minimal intervention, aiming for wines of freshness and clarity rather than power.
A pure, mineral-driven white made in tiny volumes, it suits those seeking an unconventional, terroir-focused style of Alsace white.
