The Kapnios, wine mentioned by Plato the Comedian and from Athenaeus, is a wine obtained with the practice of drying grapes. The Greek name capnios comes from smoked.
Winner of many Gold Medals, this Aglianico from Masseria Frattasi is a beautiful purple colour. The aroma is with hints of blackberries and black currants. The taste is full and balanced with melted tannins and a long finish of roasted coffee sweetened, chocolate, tobacco and spices.
The Aglianico grapes are selected six times between vineyard and drying, a special product, the Aglianico cones are hung to dry until January, then pressed. The fermentations are very long, until April, then aged in wood for 24 months. A perfect harmony, an impenetrable texture, a severe colour, an unforgettable taste.
