Description
Argiano Non Confunditur IGT Toscana is a Bordeaux inspired blend made outside the local DOCG rules by a historic Montalcino estate.
The wine sits apart from Argiano's Brunello. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are joined by Sangiovese, grown on the warm south west facing slopes near Sant'Angelo in Colle, at the drier end of the Montalcino zone. Because international varieties are not permitted in Brunello di Montalcino, the wine is bottled under the broader Toscana IGT, a category created to accommodate exactly this sort of blend after Tuscan growers began working outside the traditional appellations. Ageing is shorter than for the estate's Brunello, in a combination of French oak and larger casks, and the wine is built to be approachable on release rather than to demand long cellaring.
Good with grilled and roasted meats, pasta with a meat sauce and firm cheeses; serve at around 17 degrees.
