Description

Bachelet-Monnot Santenay Blanc is drawn from four parcels of mature vines on chalk that continues the ground of the Maranges premier cru La Fussière.

White wine is a small part of Santenay, an appellation at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune that is planted overwhelmingly to Pinot Noir, so the Chardonnay tends to come from the chalkiest corners where red does less well. Bachelet-Monnot has bottled a Santenay Blanc since 2012, and the wine is assembled from four parcels averaging around 30 years of age. The key holding is the lieu-dit Les Bras, geologically a continuation of La Fussière in Maranges just over the boundary. These vineyards are exceptionally chalky and give a wine of linearity and intense, rocky minerality rather than breadth. Marc and Alexandre Bachelet built the domaine on white wine, working from Dezize-lès-Maranges with holdings that run up into Puligny-Montrachet, and the family style is taut and precise across the range.

Best between two and six years from the vintage. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled flathead, roast chicken or a young comté.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
