Bannockburn Olive Tree Hill Pinot Noir 2024

Bannockburn Olive Tree Hill Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the oldest block on the estate.

Stuart Hooper put these vines in the ground in 1976, which makes this the oldest planting on the property: own-rooted MV6 Pinot Noir, laid down alongside the Chardonnay rows that become S.R.H. Approaching fifty vintages, they are reliably the last to ripen and give the smallest, most concentrated berries on the estate, and therefore the darkest and most structured Pinot in the range. Matt Holmes treats all three single-vineyard Pinots the same way, give or take a barrel, which is the point — what changes in the glass is the parcel, not the recipe. Farmed organically.

Old-vine concentration, with fruit swinging between red and black, earthy spice and forest-floor depth. The palate is calm and structured beneath a spice-charged perfume. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, decanted. Duck, venison, or mushrooms with garlic and parsley.
