Description
Beau Rivage Chenin Blanc is a dry Chenin Blanc from old vines in Clarksburg, California.
The fruit grows on some of Clarksburg’s oldest vines, planted in the 1960s and farmed organically by a long-standing grower. William Kelley runs the harvest by hand and makes the wine with his friend and business partner Frank Ingriselli, who looks after the ageing. Picking happens in two lots: grapes from the sunny side of the vine are crushed for extract, while the shaded side is whole-cluster pressed on a long, firm cycle. The musts ferment wild and go into old, low-toast Burgundy barrels with eight vintages behind them. 2018 was a late, cool season here, and this is the raciest, lowest-alcohol release the label has made.
Fine and delicate, with lanolin, citrus, herbal botanicals and white flowers, bone dry, a pithy texture and a powdery, salty finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees. Roast chicken, grilled white fish, or pork with apple.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
