Description
Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Blanc is drawn almost entirely from estate vineyards inside Meursault, on the upper side of the road.
Most Bourgogne Blanc comes from the flat land at the foot of the Côte, across the D974 from the village vineyards. Leroux's estate vines sit differently: they are on the lower slopes of the Côte itself, below the village-level plots of Meursault but still above the road. This year's blend draws on Les Millerands, Sous la Velle and Les Belles Côtes, with a small parcel of purchased fruit from the Hautes Côtes de Beaune above Pernand-Vergelesses added for lift. Six parcels went into the wine in total. Benjamin Leroux ran Domaine du Comte Armand for fifteen years before founding his own house in Beaune in 2007, and the winemaking here follows the house pattern: everything matured in large casks and foudres rather than small barrels.
Ready on release and good for four or five years. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled whiting or a young Comté.
