Description

Blank Canvas Abstract Sauvignon Blanc Three Rows Marlborough is a small-batch, textural take on the region's best-known grape.

Most Sauvignon Blanc from this part of New Zealand is crisp and tank-fermented. This one is not. It is a tiny batch from a few picked-out vine rows, and more winemaking input goes in, giving texture, depth and ageing potential. Behind it is a husband-and-wife team, Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker-Thomson MW, working with a small number of carefully chosen single sites.

Layered and rich for a Sauvignon, with a fresh, lingering finish. Scallops, roast chicken and soft cheeses all work well. Serve at 9–11°C so the texture comes through.
