Blind Corner Quindalup Nouveau 2022

Blind Corner Quindalup Nouveau is a juicy, light red made from carbonically fermented Shiraz.

The method shifted for 2022: whole bunches went into stainless steel and sat at five degrees for a fortnight of carbonic maceration, the cold keeping the ferment slow and the aromatics intact. After that the fruit was crushed by foot, basket-pressed, and given a few months in old barrels before bottling. The Shiraz comes from twenty-plus-year-old vines at the Goulds' biodynamic Quindalup vineyard on the coastal flats of Margaret River, where sand over pea gravel and granite keeps vigour down and brings picking forward.

Lip-smacking and earthy, with red cherry, pepper and hardly any tannin to speak of. Serve lightly chilled at 13 degrees and drink it within the year. Good with pizza, charcuterie, barbecued lamb skewers, or a bowl of olives.
