Description
Blind Corner Ørange In Colour is a skin-fermented white blend made from every white block on the Goulds' Quindalup vineyard.
The 2024-25 season ran an ordinary winter and spring into a dry, hot summer, warm though not as fierce as the year before, and the ripening period stretched out. Whites came off from early February across five weeks of pressured but controlled picking. Disease pressure was almost nil; yields were down and the birds were a problem, but the smaller crop concentrated flavour. The blend takes in Chenin at 58 per cent, Sauvignon Blanc at 32, then Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Aligoté in small amounts. Most blocks sat on skins three to four days, the Grigio longer for colour, before finishing fermentation in seasoned oak and steel.
Concentrated and dry, with apricot, lemon peel and a savoury, faintly tannic finish that lingers. Serve at 12 degrees. Try it with roast chicken, grilled haloumi, a plate of cured meats, or a bowl of spiced chickpeas.
