Bondar Hope Springs Eternal Blewitt Springs Grenache is a single-site Grenache from 1952 plantings on deep sand.

Hope Springs Eternal is the label Andre and Selina put on wines from the vineyards they rate as the region's best for a given variety, with a preference for higher elevation and a house style that runs elegant and quietly powerful. For Grenache that means Blewitt Springs and deep sand, and this bottling was known as Higher Springs Grenache until now. Sue Trott's Wilpena vineyard was planted in 1952, dry-grown, facing steeply east away from the afternoon heat. The parcel was split into two ferments at 80 and 10 per cent whole bunches, then given ten months between amphora and a seasoned Stockinger demi-muid.

Pure and high-toned, with red cherry, rose and a dense driving core carrying plenty of savoury depth. The cool 2023 signature is all over it. Serve at 16 degrees. Roast lamb, charcuterie, or mushrooms with thyme.
