Description
Champagne Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is a zero-dosage Chardonnay from the family's chalkiest sites around Chavot and Épernay.
Laherte Frères farms at Chavot, immediately south of Épernay, and draws this Blanc de Blancs from its chalkiest holdings there and in Épernay itself, more recently supplemented by Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs premiers crus of Vertus and Voipreux. The vineyards are biodynamically farmed and sit on chalk and chalky clay marl with pockets of flint and schist. The chalk accounts for the racy, saline line the wine is known for, while the clay supplies the fruit weight and texture that stop it turning austere. Primary fermentation takes place in barrique, foudre and tronconique cask. This bottling is built on a single base vintage with forty per cent reserve wine from the two preceding years, and was aged a little over two years in bottle before being disgorged by hand, as all the house's Champagnes are, with no dosage added.
Drinking well now and capable of several years in bottle. Serve at around 8°C with oysters, sashimi or a plate of hard cheese.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
