Château Guiraud G de Guiraud Blanc 2023

Château Guiraud G de Guiraud Blanc is the dry white made at a First Growth of Sauternes, a style that has become part of the everyday work of the region's sweet wine estates.

Sauternes properties have always grown Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, but only fruit picked healthy and early, before noble rot takes hold, can be turned into a dry wine. Since the appellation rules cover sweet wine alone, these bottlings are labelled Bordeaux Blanc whatever the standing of the vineyard behind them. G de Guiraud comes from the estate's own vines at Sauternes, which are farmed organically and were among the first in classified Bordeaux to be certified, and it leans on Sauvignon Blanc with Sémillon for weight. It is picked, vinified and bottled quite separately from the château's sweet wine.

Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees with oysters, grilled fish, salads or goat's cheese, and drink it within a few years of release.
