Dodd's Gin 200ml

Dodd's Gin is a small-batch London gin, here in a 200ml bottle.

A nineteenth-century engineer named Ralph Dodd, who had grand plans for London, gives this gin its name, and the bottle was one of those that got the city's modern craft gin scene moving when it appeared in 2013. It is made as two separate distillations that are married before bottling: most of the botanicals go through a 140-litre copper alembic called Christina, while the delicate material, raspberry leaf among it, is drawn off in a bespoke cold vacuum still named Little Albion. The two spirits are blended over several weeks. London honey from local hives goes in, and the labels are letterpress printed on an old Heidelberg and numbered by hand.

Juniper sits front and centre, with lime peel in place of the usual coriander seed, bay and angelica underneath, and a honeyed weight that keeps it soft despite the strength. It makes an excellent Martini, stirred very cold with a good dry vermouth, and it holds its own in a G and T with plenty of ice.
