Domaine Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc 2021

Domaine Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc is drawn entirely from Meursault parcels sitting alongside village-classified vineyards.

The Bourgogne appellation covers a wide spread of quality, and the difference usually comes down to where the vines actually sit. Jobard's holdings amount to just over a hectare across five parcels, all within Meursault and all bordering village-level land: Sous la Velle, En l'Ormeau, Les Herbeux, Les Lameroses and La Monatine. The average vine age is around twenty years. The blend also includes two barrels from young vines planted in 2015 in the Saint-Aubin premier cru of Derrière Chez Edouard, declassified into this cuvée. Winemaking is identical to that of the village and premier cru wines, with whole-bunch pressing, indigenous-yeast fermentation and a long, reductive élevage in barrel, which gives a tightly wound Bourgogne that repays a little patience.

Best after a year in bottle and good for five or six. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or a soft cow's-milk cheese.
