Description
Antoine Jobard's Bourgogne Blanc comes entirely from Meursault, spread across five parcels alongside village-level vineyards.
A Bourgogne Blanc grown inside a great village is a different proposition from one grown on the plain, and this is a well-known example of the type. The parcels are Sous la Velle, En l'Ormeau, Les Herbeux, Les Lameroses and La Monatine, together just over a hectare, with an average vine age of about 20 years. Some releases have also included declassified fruit from young vines in Saint-Aubin's Premier Cru Derrière Chez Edouard. Domaine Antoine Jobard is one of the more traditional addresses in Meursault, known for reductive handling, long ageing on lees and restrained new oak, and the same treatment is given to this wine. It is open, fleshy and deep, and carries the hallmarks of the village it grows in.
Drink now and over the next six to eight years. Serve at 10 to 12°C with roast chicken, scallops or a cheese soufflé.
