Description
Domaine Camille Thiriet Bourgogne Blanc En La Place is drawn from 60-year-old Chardonnay at La Sablière, between Corgoloin and Comblanchien.
The stretch between Corgoloin and Comblanchien, at the southern tip of the Côte de Nuits, is better known for its limestone quarries than its vineyards and is classified at Bourgogne level, which is one reason old vines survive there. En La Place comes from La Sablière, where the Chardonnay is around 60 years old. Production is very small: the wine was raised in two barrels, one old and one Damy cask first used in 2021, so new oak plays only a minor part in the finished wine. The style is pure and pulpy rather than rich, with the freshness the northern end of the Côte tends to give its whites. This is a recent addition to Camille Thiriet’s domaine range.
Drinking now and over the next four years. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled prawns or a leek tart.
