Description
Domaine Combier Crozes-Hermitage Blanc 'Cuvée L' is a dry northern Rhône white made from Marsanne with Roussanne.
On the flat, stony plain east of the Hermitage hill at Pont-de-l'Isère, the family farm fruit orchards as well as vines. The property went organic in the 1970s under Maurice Combier, well ahead of the neighbours, and Laurent has been in charge since the late 1980s. On this side of the appellation, the largest in the northern Rhône, the soils are alluvial galets and sand over clay. After a gentle pressing and a cool ferment, the wine rests on lees in tank and used oak to keep it fresh.
Rounded and medium-bodied, with pear, almond and a clean, dry finish. Try it at 10-12°C with roast pork, chicken, grilled white fish or creamy soft cheeses.
